Notes

  • Stun duration is 15 seconds unresisted, and has a wide AoE centered on the target.
  • 10' range as of the Sep 6 2016 Version Update
  • On many NMs, stun resistance begins to build fairly quickly.
  • Like all debuffs it cannot refresh a status, so if another form of stun is on when used, it will have no effect and since most stuns are much shorter duration than shock squall, will end up wasting the ability. Others casting stun can also build resistance before shock squall is used, so coordination with team mates is recommended.
  • Historically, has a preparation time of .5 seconds, when other pacts had a preparation time of 4 seconds, since an update to preparation times for Summoner, it still has the .5 second preparation time while other pacts have a 1.5 second preparation time.
  • Can be paired with Volt Strike to stun lock enemies by alternating between Shock Squall and Volt Strike every 15 seconds with minimum recasts of 30 seconds. This only works if stuns are full duration, and preparation time will leave small windows where the mob isn't stunned.
  • Though the ability itself and stuns in general are very accurate some mobs seem to have high levels of stun resistance, or even immunity. See Discussion for testimonials on usage.
  • Sudden Lunge can have comparable stun duration, though like Violent Flourish, Chaotic Strike and Volt Strike is an on hit effect to a physical move, so they require both physical and magical accuracy and are single target, Shock Squall has the benefit of being both AoE and only requiring magical accuracy.
