Shadow Lord

General Notes Shadow Lord The boss of mission 5-2 for all three nations. Players of any allegiance may enter the same battlefield, as long as they are at or past this mission in their current nation. He has two forms. First form has 10,000 HP; second form has 4,000 HP. Both forms must be defeated to win. First Form Special attacks: Umbra Slash: Single target damage. Dark Nova: AOE moderate darkness damage. Can cast Tier II -ga spells, Ice Spikes, Frost, Rasp, Drain, and Aspir. In the first form, he can switch between physical or magical immunity. It is immune to physical damage when it is attacking physically, and it is immune to magic when it is holding out a glowing fist and attacking only with magic. While immune to magic, he will use Dark Nova and can cast Black Magic. Dark Nova tends to indicate that he will switch to physical immunity. During physical immunity, he can use a variety of TP attacks, including Giga Slash, Kick Back and Umbra Smash. Defeating the first form will get you a cutscene. You will immediately be returned to the fight. There is little opportunity to rest. Second Form Special attacks: Implosion: AOE damage, ignores Utsusemi. It will continuously use Implosion approximately every 10 seconds until defeated. Shadow Lord ★ Fought in The Throne Room with a Shadow Lord phantom gem. Everyone participating must have this key item in order to enter. Has two forms. First Form Switches between physical and magical immunity every 60 seconds or 20,000 damage. In the first form, Shadow Lord has access to Damning Edict, Swath of Silence, Giga Slash, and Umbra Smash. Damning Edict will signal the start of physical immunity and end magical immunity. While physically immune, the Shadow Lord's sword will gain a purple aura. While not guaranteed, the Shadow Lord favors casting Firaja after using this move. Formless Strikes bypasses his physical immunity. Swath of Silence will signal the start of magical immunity and end physical immunity. While magically immune, the Shadow Lord's palm will face up and glow purple. Casts Fire V, Flare II, and Firaja. Second Form You will receive a brief cutscene and be placed back in front of the door. The Shadow Lord will immediately aggro. Will exclusively use Bowels of Agony and Implosion (nameless in normal chat log). No longer melees or casts on players. Implosion (30') will be used approximately every 10 seconds as a standard attack. Bowels of Agony has a limited range. Allowing for a correctly positioned White Mage to stand in range to Curaga, but out of range of the move. Make sure the Shadow Lord is claimed. If defeated unclaimed during it's final 1% animation, spoils will not be received. See the Discussion page for published testimonials.
