Defense Down Element Removable Yes Effect Reduces a target's Defense. Notes Defense Down effects do not stack with each other. Dia, Box Step, Defense Down, and Geo-Frailty all stack together additively to a minimum of 1 defense. Defense = Base_Defense * (1 - (Dia + Box Step + Defense Down + Frailty)) >= 1 Defense Down effects such as Acid Bolts, Angon, Spirit Surged Jumps, Weaponskill effects, Blue Magic effects, etc do not stack. Only one may be active at a time. Stronger effects sometimes overwrite weaker ones, such as the case with Angon Stronger Defense Bonus effects such as Cocoon tend to have a higher priority than and either prevent or overwrite Defense Down effects, but not always. The job abilities Angon and Spirit Surged Jump are not resisted by any known monsters. The Defense Down effect will not be applied if Jump misses. Spirit Surge increases Jump accuracy by a fixed amount, but does not guarantee a hit. Spirit Surged Jump overwrites and prevents application of Angon.
