New page

Mizuki Ito (伊藤泉貴) joined the Final Fantasy XI development team as a planner and the majority of his work prior to the initial release was on monster pathing.

During the Treasures of Aht Urhgan era of the game, Ito and Daisuke Sase were responsible for the Zeni Notorious Monster system. By the end of his tenure on FFXI, Ito would have a hand in Abyssea, Besieged, Campaign, Dark Ixion, Dynamis (including Dreamlands and designing Dynamis Lord specifically while listening to "Awakening"), Einherjar, Limbus, Salvage, Sandworm, Voidwatch, and more. He would oversee or be a main developer of much of this content.

Ito was the Battle Director before the beginning of the Abyssea era of the game, taking over as the 5th Director on December 10th, 2010. He replaced Akihiko Matsui, who left to work on salvaging Final Fantasy XIV.

In December 2011, Ito was at the center of a controversy with Japanese players after an interview he gave with Allakhzam was poorly translated on an anonymous Japanese message board. He was attributed as saying Abyssea was a failure. On December 26th, he took to the official forums to try to correct the record.

On April 1st, 2016, it was announced Ito left his role as Director of Final Fantasy XI and Yoji Fujito replaced him. Ito left to work on prototype design for Final Fantasy VII: Remake.
