| The head of Bastok's Military Affairs, Senator Werner, is killed by an assassin. In San d'Oria, the captain of the Temple Knights, Mouchand, is also assassinated. In Mindartia, Fort Karugo-Narugo is besieged by a Beastmen Confederate anti-magic unit, which allows the capital of Windurst to be invaded, but again, the Federation manages to repel the attacks. Cid is given the position as lead researcher of the Republic's Gunpowder Room.
